We are a coalition of organizations and allies committed to work for equality for all adult adoptees in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. We work to change the vital records laws in each of these states and the district so that an adult adoptee may request and obtain his or her own original birth certificate, without discriminatory conditions.

The Capitol Coalition for Adoptee Rights is adoptee-led and adoptee-driven. Its core partners commit in writing to a bottom line of equality for all adopted people who were born or adopted in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. CCAR is also powered by data, logistics, and support from Adoptees United Inc., a national nonprofit organization.
We are recruiting organizational partners and allies and have not yet announced all of those involved. The process of forming the coalition is underway and its formal launch will be announced shortly. Sign up here for more information or to get involved.
